When “Use Previous VA Loan Fields” (field 48604) is set to “Yes” for a Veterans Affairs loan, items 10 through 13 of VA Form 26-1880 “Request for a Certificate of Eligibility for VA Home Loan Benefits” (Cx3957) are populated using logic based on the following fields:
- Previous VA Loan – Property Still Owned 1 (48608)
- Previous VA Loan – Date of Loan 1 (48607)
- Previous VA Loan – Street Address of Property 1 (48606)
- Previous VA Loan – City of Property 1 (51082)
- Previous VA Loan – State of Property 1 (51083)
- Previous VA Loan – Property Still Owned 2 (48614)
- Previous VA Loan – Date of Loan 2 (48613)
- Previous VA Loan – Street Address of Property 2 (48612)
- Previous VA Loan – City of Property 2 (51084)
- Previous VA Loan – State of Property 2 (51085)
- Loan Purpose (MISMO) (1063)
- VA One-Time Only Restoration of Entitlement To Purchase (58434)
- VA Restoration of Entitlement To Refinance Home (58435)
- VA Interest Rate Reduction Refinancing Loan (IRRRL) (38642)
Logic in items 10 through 13 has been restructured. Before the edits, if “Previous VA Loan – Street Address of Property 1” was filled out and “Previous VA Loan – Property Still Owned 1” was set to “No”, but “Previous VA Loan – Property Still Owned 2” was not set, the “NO” checkbox in 10A (DO YOU NOW OWN ANY HOME(S) PURCHASED OR REFINANCED WITH A VA-GUARANTEED LOAN?) was not checking. After the edits:
- “YES” will check in 10A if either street address exists and the corresponding owned indicator is “Yes”;
- “NO” will check in 10A if either street address exists, but neither corresponding owned indicator is “Yes”; and
- “NA” will check in 10A if neither “YES” or “NO” check.
The rest of the items in the “PREVIOUS VA LOANS” section of the document will populate accordingly based on this new logic. The logic in items 10 through 13 on Cx19641, a custom copy of VA Form 26-1880, is also being restructured.

UPDATE
August 23, 2017
The Department of Veterans Affairs re-modified their VA Form 26-1880 to:
- Remove instructions concerning Item 7 from page 2, since 7B was removed from the form in the previous update.
- Replace the St. Petersburg Regional Loan Center mailing address on page 3.
- Make various format and small text edits.
Although the VA forms website shows this latest copy of VA Form 26-1880 as having an Issue Date of “8/11/2017”, VA did not update the Revision Date from “DEC 2016”.
These latest changes will go into effect immediately.
